Week 8 review...9 Preview

Oregon destroyed ASU, Arizona destroyed Washington and USC destroyed Colorado. Oregon State survived a tough test from Utah and Stanford got a hard fought win at CAL. Sicne my predictions didn't post I can't really say I saw all this coming but last week may have been my first 5-0 week. Oh well. On to week 9!

*Game of the week*USC @ Arizona - This will be a high scoring feel bad for the defense type game. My heart tells me go with Arizona. I could see the offense of Rich Rod giving USC's defense fits. However, Matt Barkley and USC tasted defeate early in the season and have shown that taste was bitter. They have looked the team we thought they were at the begining of the year since losing. I see them scraping there way past Arizona 42-35. I just don't trust Arizona's defense as much as I want to.

UCLA @ ASU - Huge statement game. Winner of this game becomes bowl eligible and stays in the PAC-12 race. ASU took the Oregon loss and has had much more time to prepare. I think they beat UCLA just on home crowd advantage. 24-21

COLO @ ORE -Oregon will run past, and all over Colorado. A lot to a little. (52-10)

WSU @ STAN - Stanford will keep rolling. Beat Struggling WSU 24-10.

CAL @ UTAH - Cal runs into another bump on the road as Utah will beat them 27-13.

ORST @ WASH - Oregon State has passed all tests so far this year. This is another tough one as they travel to Washington. Washington was embarrassed by Arizona and looks to move on with what would be a big win over the 7th team in the country. Washington will be better but not better enough. ORST wins 21-17.

Week 7 Preview

I was correct on all but one of the games last weekend so i didn't feel like doing a what we learned was needed. I feel UCLA and Arizona blew chances to get back in the mix of things in the conference titile race but thats about it. Big week for some squads this week.

ASU @ COLO - Colorado has one win ASU has four. Heading into the season this matchup on paper would have been good. But due to Colorados terrible start it looks like ASU is going to roll on the road big. 34-14.

UTAH @ UCLA - UCLA must have this game from a rebound standpoint. If they want to catch USC for the PAC-12 South title it starts here vs UTAH. I think the team who needs this more will win. UCLA edges UTAH 24-16.

USC @ WASH - Upset Alert. Washington has a quality football team. They have had bad losses to good teams. Top 10 teams (LSU, Oregon). They beat Stanford a ranked team also. I think they save the season and upset USC and makes the PAC-12 race a little crazier. 27-24

CAL @ WSU- When your head coach calls his seniors dead corpses you've got issues. Washington State has been inconsistant at best this season and Cal has been an exact replica. Toss up for sure. I'm gonna pick WSU to pull it out because I think Mike Leeches Seniors will be motivated by his comments.

NON-Conference Matchups- ORST@BYU - With a healthy Sean Mannion (starting QB) Oregon State would win easily. But BYU is a good home team and with a new QB thrown into the fire they can equilize the playing field vs the nations 10th ranked team. I think this game is going to implicate just how good Oregon States defense is. I think they will have to win the game for ORST but I think they rise to the occasion. 17-13 Oregon State.

Game of the week - STAN @ ND - Rivalry that has gone the Cardinal way the past few years. This year Notre Dame has had a huge jump in defensive play. They will push Stanfords offense an force turnovers. Notre Dame will also win because their defense will put the offense in great positions and give them multiple possesions. Stanford played terrible last week and didn't desereve to win. This week they won't. 28-10 Notre Dame.

Week 6 Previews!

USC @ UTAH- USC coming off a bye by heading to Utah to take on the Utes. Utah has had adversity with their QB Jordan Wynn walking away from the game after injury. They have had stable play from Senior Jon Hayes. USC is trying to force their way back into the national spotlight with another road win. USC has far better talent than UTAH but had Jordan Wynn been playing in this game they would have a shot to score with USC. But, he isn't...So USC wins a somewhat competitive game 31-17.

ARI @ STAN - Same old Wildcats? Arizona is moving forward as a football program but inconsistancy is hurting them. Last week they had 18th ranked Oregon State trailing late and allowed a late touchdown and had a late turnover to end the game. It was better than the shutout the previous week at the hands of Oregon but not enough to show me they are ready to contend with the nations elite. I believe they have elite talent in their run game but outside of that they are average and when avergae you have to compete your best to have a shot which they did for about 55 minutes vs Oregon State before letting that game slip. It gets no easier heading to Palo Alto to take on the Cardinal, who are among the nations elilte. U of A's defense must come up big time to stop Stanford and they must execute on offense to have a shot. That being said I don't think U of A will do so. Stanford wins easily 35-14.

WSU @ ORST - I'm not picking against ORST this week. Each time I pick against them they have a tramendous win. Hopefully being on there side helps me out. I see them beating WSU 24-14.

UCLA @ CAL - UCLA has found its way back into the rankings and is determined to compete for the PAC-12 title. A strong perfromance vs a California team that beats itself would be big for UCLA's confidence beating a rival on the road. CAL competes but UCLA wins 28-17.

Game of the week- Oregon hosts Washington. Washington is feeling good coming off of a huge win vs 8th ranked Stanford. Although Washington is very good the Ducks are better. I think this game will be a shootout but Oregon being at home and more dynamic will win. 45-21

week 5 Review (what we learned)...

What Stanford at Washington taught us. Start off by giving kudos to wasington. In a game they trailed most of the way they somehow pulled out a gutsy win on a neutral field to upset 8th ranked Stanford. This showed us that the PAC-12 is going to be extreamloy competitive this year. With Stanford already beating USC (the seasons preseason best PAC-12 pick) but losing to Washington (who's lone loss has come to the nations 4th best team LSU) shows that on any given gameday any of these teams can beat each other. It should be a great season to watch with all these early fireworks in the conference.

What ASU at Cal taught us. ASU is serious about contending. After having one tough loss at Mizzo the Sundevils from kickoff dominated Cal in every which way. Cal although they are fighting hard and competiting they arent going to be in contention for the title as they already are in a huge hole. I like that they are competiting they just arent doing it for 60mins and their opponents realize this and take advantage. I think as the year goes on they get much better and may even get a couple upsets.

What Oregon State at Arizona. Oregon State is for real. They were put in adverse situation after adverse situation yet they responeded in every way vs a tough Wildcat team. The Wildcats are showing signs of moving in the right direction and i think they will get better but right now they are hurting themselves with turnovers. Especially one late interception by QB Matt Scott.

For UCLA and Oregon who got wins this weekend I explained why they would win in the Week 5 preview. Once agian I had only a 3-2 record but I vow to get better and to at least have one perfect weekend! So until next week!
